JSW negotiating team-up with BYD for advanced technologies

JSW Motors makes an interesting move by negotiating for a collaboration with BYD Motors for access to BYD’s electric vehicle components and platforms. JSW Motors partially owns MG, so this can mean an interesting future for MG in India. JSW is also talking with other Chinese companies like Geely, Chery, Xiaomi, Nio Auto, and Li Auto.
JSW motors has put in a whopping Rs. 26000 crore over the next five years, which shows that they are committed to compete in the automotive industry. They want to launch their first car before June 2026, and 25 new launches by 2030. The first launch will be from their new factory in Maharashtra.
JSW’s CEO Ranjan Naik has shown JSW Motors’ commitment to manufacture cars for BYD in their Maharashtra plant, the plant will be able to produce 5 lakh units per year.
JSW motors is also thinking of partnering with European companies like Volkswagen and Renault to access their platforms and components. JSW Motors is currently being extremely flexible in their global collaboration in order to move fast in the Indian automotive sector.
Mr. Ranjan Naik says that JSW motors can make the most of India’s ecosystem and India has the capability to be an export hub for global markets, especially when it comes to EVs.
