Maruti Suzuki Is Listening, Here's All You Need to Know About The Victoris

There’s something strangely poetic about the name Victoris. Derived from Latin, it means victory! And if you ask Maruti Suzuki, that’s exactly what they’re aiming for. Victory not just over rivals, but over skepticism, over expectations, and perhaps even over their own reputation for playing it safe.

The Victoris isn’t just another SUV launch. It’s a statement. A shout, really. That Maruti Suzuki has finally heard the young, restless, tech-hungry buyer and has decided to deliver a product that checks every box. And then, because they’re Maruti, they’ve added another half-dozen boxes just in case.

So, is this really the SUV that’s “Got It All”? Let’s dig into everything Maruti Suzuki has put into their new flagship SUV.

The Big Picture: Why Victoris Exists

Maruti Suzuki has long been the master of small cars, but SUVs? That’s been a trickier game. Sure, they’ve had hits like the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, but the SUV segment is where ambition meets image. Buyers want something that feels global, looks futuristic, and comes loaded with enough tech to run a small spaceship.

Enter the Victoris. This is Maruti Suzuki saying: “Fine, we get it. You want something stylish, smart, safe, and eco-friendly. Here it is. NOW STOP CALLING OUR CARS UNSAFE AND BORING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!”

It sits in the crowded mid-size SUV space, aiming squarely at the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and even the VW Taigun/Skoda Kushaq twins. But the Victoris isn’t shy. It wants to do more than just compete. It wants to dominate. Which it just might.

Tech/Features

You can tell this car was designed with Gen Z and millennials in mind. The types who think Wi-Fi is a human right and playlists are as important as horsepower.

The Victoris comes armed with a 26.03 cm fully digital instrument cluster that lets you choose your preferred display modes. Right next to it is a 25.65 cm (10.1-inch) SmartPlay Pro X touchscreen infotainment system, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

But here’s the kicker: Infinity sound system by Harman with Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround. That’s eight speakers, including a subwoofer and centre speaker. And because Maruti knows mood is everything, they’ve added 64-colour ambient lighting.

Oh, and yes, Alexa Auto Voice AI with 35+ features, OTA updates, and a built-in app store. Dare anyone call the cabin boring.

And to tickle other manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki gave a powered tailgate with gesture control! Wired with multiple activation modes and anti-pinch tech. Only the Third Car under 25 Lakh rupees to give a powered tailgate.

Inside, you get an 8-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger with an active cooling fan (because India, summers, and overheating phones are a real thing). USB Type-C fast charging ports are scattered around, because running out of battery mid-Instagram reel is a modern tragedy.

All of this in an ARENA product?

Safety

"Maruti's are not safe!, Tin-Can, Patra" repeated exposure to bullying has made Maruti Suzuki Glow UP!

Under Global NCAP’s latest protocols, the Victoris earned a full 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection, scoring 33.72 out of 34 in adult safety tests, and delivering “adequate to good” protection across critical body regions in frontal, side, and pole impact scenarios!

In the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) regime, the Victoris also secured a 5-star rating, with an adult protection score of 31.66/32 and child occupant protection of 43/49.

The frontal offset test scores were nearly identical in both programs (15.807/16 under Global NCAP vs 15.66/16 under BNCAP), and in side impact testing, the Victoris delivered strong “good” protection for head, pelvis, and abdomen, with the chest region rated “adequate” under the stricter Global NCAP standard.

The Victoris comes with 6 airbags standard across all variants. A first for an ARENA model. On top of that, you get Level 2 ADAS with features like:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Curve Speed Reduction
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Lane Change Alert
  • High Beam Assist

There’s also a 360-degree HD camera with 11 views, tyre pressure monitoring, all-wheel disc brakes, and hill hold control. Basically, if you do manage to crash this thing, it’s probably because you were trying very hard.

Maruti even bundles in the ARENA Safety Shield. That includes ESP, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. Warranty? 3 years or 1,00,000 km. Not bad.

Design

The Victoris isn’t trying to be quirky. Instead, it looks modern, sleek, and Sober.

Up front, you get a sharp, chiselled face with LED projector headlamps and DRLs, which might remind you of the Tiguan. While at the back, connected LED tail lamps stretch across the boot. The silhouette is clean, athletic, and free of unnecessary gimmicks. Aero-cut alloys and a panoramic sunroof round off the package.

Inside, there’s a three-layer dashboard in black and ivory dual-tone, soft-touch panels, and piano-black accents. Seats get textured upholstery, while the overall vibe is more “premium lounge” than “cheap plastic shack.”

Powertrain

One of the Victoris’s biggest strengths is how many options you get under the bonnet:

1.5L Petrol (K15C Smart Hybrid)

  • 103 PS, 139 Nm
  • Available with manual or automatic
  • Fuel efficiency: 21.18 km/l (MT), 21.06 km/l (AT)

Strong Hybrid (1.5L with e-CVT)

  • 92 PS + electric motor
  • Drive modes: Eco, Power, Normal
  • EV-only mode available
  • Fuel efficiency: 28.65 km/l

ALLGRIP Select 4x4 (Petrol Automatic)

  • 6-speed AT with paddle shifters
  • Multi-Terrain Modes: Auto, Snow, Sport, Lock
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Fuel efficiency: 19.07 km/l

S-CNG with underbody tank

  • 27.02 km/kg
  • Factory-fitted with no compromise on boot space

Yes, you are spoiled for choice, but the 1.5L NA could honestly be made more powerful.

Variants and Pricing

The Victoris is available in multiple trims across its powertrain lineup. While Maruti Suzuki hasn’t overcomplicated the variant spread, they’ve kept it flexible enough for different buyer profiles:

  • Petrol (Smart Hybrid): Starts at ₹11.5 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • S-CNG: From ₹12.2 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Strong Hybrid: Around ₹17.9 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • ALLGRIP 4x4 Petrol AT: Topping out close to ₹19.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

Bookings are open now at ₹11,000 via the Maruti Suzuki Arena website or dealerships.

Colours and Customisation

Maruti Suzuki knows Indians love choice, so you get 10 colour options (7 monotone, 3 dual-tone), including two new shades: Mystic Green and Eternal Blue.

And if you’re the kind who wants your SUV to look like nobody else’s, there’s the Raffiné Accessory Package! A dark chrome garnish, skid plates in magma grey and copper, illuminated sill guards, and even bespoke interior styling kits.

Listening is an Important Skill

The Victoris is, on paper, one of the most feature-rich SUVs Maruti Suzuki has ever built. It’s safe, it’s stylish, it’s got multiple powertrains (including hybrid and CNG), and it finally delivers the kind of tech that young buyers expect.

But, like any Maruti, the real test will be in how it feels to drive. Will the hybrid actually deliver the smoothness promised? Will the ALLGRIP 4x4 setup genuinely tackle challenging terrains, or will it just be a badge to impress neighbours?

One thing’s for sure: Maruti Suzuki is listening. And in the Victoris, they’ve shown they’re ready to respond to India’s evolving SUV audience. Victory? Too early to say. But it’s certainly their boldest move yet. Hopefully, they test the waters with some "lukewarm" performance-oriented Cars.
