Things Upcoming Nissan Tekton Could Borrow From The New Renault Duster

The Nissan Tekton is set to debut in India on July 19, 2026

Just a few months after the launch of the 2026 Renault Duster, another compact SUV is set to create buzz in the India market, the Nissan Tekton. Scheduled to make its India debut on July 19, 2026, the Tekton is already drawing attention for its strong Duster connection. While both SUVs are based on the same architecture, the Tekton shares several bits under the skin with the Duster, still carrying a distinct Nissan identity. Let’s see what all the Tekton could borrow from the new Duster.

Same Architecture

Starting with the foundation, the new India-spec 2026 Renault Duster is based on RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) architecture. The Nissan Tekton will also share its underpinnings with the Renault SUV.

Interestingly, the global-spec Renault Duster is based on the CMF-B (Common Modular Family - B) platform. As per sources, the RGMP platform has been specifically engineered for India keeping local requirements and road realities in mind. Most importantly, the latter has been heavily localised allowing Renault and Nissan to achieve better cost efficiency without compromising on capabilities.

Equipment And Features

The Nissan Tekton is likely to share its equipment list with the 2026 Renault Duster. Amenities include a 10.1-inch touchscreen (wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, auto AC with rear AC vents, and ventilated front seats.

Just like the 2026 Duster, the Tekton is also expected to come with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a complete suite of level 2 ADAS.

Same Powertrain Options

Since Tekton will be based on the same platform as the Duster, the powertrain options are also likely to be shared. The choices include a 1-litre turbo-petrol (100 PS/166 Nm) with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (163 PS/280 Nm) available with both 6-speed MT and a 6-speed DCT. Nissan may also offer the choice of a 1.8-litre petrol-hybrid engine with the Tekton at a later stage.

Nissan Tekton Expected Price

Nissan could price the Tekton compact SUV starting from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). Once launched, it will lock horns with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, and Volkswagen Taigun.
