4 New Mahindra Vision SUV Concepts Unveiled This Independence Day

All four SUV prototypes are underpinned by Mahindra’s new Nu IQ platform
Mahindra chose another Independence Day and organised Freedom NU event in Mumbai, where it unwrapped four new SUV concepts: Vision X, Vision S, Vision SXT, and Vision T. All these SUV concepts are based on the automaker’s new Nu IQ architecture. This architecture is capable of accommodating multiple body styles and powertrain options.
Mahindra’s Vision Concepts Explained
Out of 4 Vision prototypes showcased by Mahindra, the Vision T and Vision SXT are over 4 metres in length, while the Vision X and Vision S are sub-4m SUV concepts. We have explained each of them in detail:
Vision T

The Mahindra Vision T concept draws inspiration from the Thar E concept, but its fascia has been completely reimagined for a fresh identity. It features an imposing 6-slat split grille, squared-off headlights, and a rugged off-road bumper that protrudes outward for a tougher stance. From the side, the Vision T retains its traditional boxy SUV proportions, while at the rear it sports squared LED taillights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, reinforcing its rugged character.
The cabin of the Vision T is highlighted by a 3-spoke steering wheel, along with a large vertical screen on the dashboard.
Vision SXT

The Vision SXT concept is positioned as a more adventure-oriented take on the Vision T. It features a redesigned grille with rectangular elements at the front, while the profile has been extended beyond the C-pillar to integrate a functional flatbed. The flatbed houses two off-road tyres, highlighting its utility-driven design. Inside, the cabin gets a touch of contrast with yellow accents on the steering wheel, dashboard, and seats, lending it a distinctive look.
Vision S

Another SUV concept showcased by Mahindra is the Vision S, a sub-4m prototype with a classic boxy SUV silhouette. It features an upright stance and a rectangular grille at the front, seemingly inspired by the Scorpio N. Other exterior highlights include pixel LED headlights and tail lights housed in black surrounds, along with prominent silver skid plates at both ends. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel further enhances its utilitarian appeal. Inside, the Vision S carries a dual-tone navy blue and black cabin theme with leatherette seat upholstery, complemented by an integrated display setup for both the infotainment system and the driver’s display.
Vision X

Among all Mahindra prototypes, the Vision X stands out as the one with the smoothest design curves. This sub-4m SUV concept is likely a design preview of the next-generation XUV 3XO. Key exterior highlights include a closed-off front grille, sleek LED DRLs, connected LED tail lights, and aerodynamically styled 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the Vision X adopts a modern layout with a curved display that integrates both the infotainment system and the digital driver’s display.
Launch Timelines
Mahindra has not commented on the launch timelines for its Vision SUV concepts. However, their production-ready versions could arrive between 2027 and 2029. Since all these SUVs are based on a new Nu IQ platform, which supports the accommodation of different types of powertrains, they are expected to be offered in both ICE and EV versions.
